ENSEMBLE BAROCUM The group was created by three young musicians who met at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Their repertoire covers a wide range of music from the Baroque and Classical periods, with particular interest in sacred music, as well as music of the French Baroque. Specific repertoire performed by Ensemble Barocum in the past includes: Leçons de ténèbres (Fr. Couperin), Stabat Mater (G. Pergolesi), Pieces de clavecin (Rameau), Judith (S. de Brossard), various cantatas by Monteclair and various arias by Purcell. More and more, the group is widening its spectrum to include the arias from operas by composers such as Handel and Mozart as well as harpsichord concertos by Mozart, Bach and Corette. The core group consists of: voice (soprano), viola da gamba and harpsichord, although the ensemble often collaborates with other musicians (violin, traverso, cello, oboe or theorbo) depending on the needs of the programme. They made a debut in fringe Oude Muziek Festival in 2007 and they were also invited for fringe Musica Antigua in Barcelona in 2008. They regularly perform in Holland and Polen appearing in festivals and different venues among others: Festival Ars Musica, Europa Consociata, Incanto concerten Middelburg. |
